Snowmobiling

Winter trails welcome you! The Whitefish Area offers access to over 1,200 miles of trails in northern Minnesota, with approximately 250 miles right here in the Brainerd Lakes Area and Crow Wing County.

Trails are well marked across lakes and woodlands and along scenic roadways. Many communities offer winter festivals that include Radar Runs for snowmobilers on alternate weekends. You might also enjoy Winter Fest, the Jaycees Fishing contest and the International Antique Snowmobiles Assoc events (be sure to check for those on the "Events Calendar.")
Your winter lodging hosts will have trail maps available for you or click on the maps listed below to find area trails. The trails are maintained several days per week by the six snowmobile clubs in the area. Come and enjoy some winter fun in the beautiful Whitefish Lakes Area!

Paul Bunyan Trail
Paved in 1995, the Paul Bunyan State Trail follows 100 miles of reclaimed railroad bed that goes from Brainerd/Baxter to Bemidji and beyond. This corridor trail allows snomobilers easy access to the approximately 1200 miles of interconnected, groomed trails within and beyond our immediate area. Communities along the trail offer complete service such as gas, food, drink, shopping and lodging, as well as many fun trails east and west from their towns. All told, you will have access to some of the best riding and will be up close and personal with the wild part of the Whitefish Lakes Area.
